To measure solar radiation and solar energy (with WeatherLink only). Diffuser element and housing are carefully designed for an accurate cosine response. Silicone photo diodes provide a good adjustment to the solar spectrum. A housing consisting of two shells minimizes the radiation heating, allows a convection cooling of the sensor, and prevents the trapping of water or dust.
